Home Seller Cleaning Checklist

What matters most when a home is being photographed and shown.

Photographs flatten texture and exaggerate glare. This list prioritises what the camera actually picks up.

What the camera sees first

  • Every window, inside and out where reachable
  • Mirrors and glass surfaces
  • Hard floors, buffed to an even finish without streaks
  • Kitchen counters completely cleared
  • Stainless steel appliances free of prints and streaks
  • Light fixtures dusted, all bulbs working and matched

Kitchen

  • Countertops cleared and wiped, including behind small appliances
  • Sink and faucet scrubbed, including the base and drain edge
  • Cabinet fronts wiped, handles degreased
  • Cabinet and drawer interiors vacuumed and wiped
  • Range, cooktop and control knobs degreased
  • Oven interior, racks and door glass
  • Range hood, filter and the wall behind the range
  • Refrigerator interior, shelves, drawers and door seals
  • Refrigerator exterior including the top and sides
  • Dishwasher interior, filter and door edge
  • Microwave inside and out
  • Backsplash and grout lines
  • Floors swept, mopped and edges detailed

Bathrooms

  • Shower and tub walls, floor and door tracks descaled
  • Grout scrubbed and soap scum removed
  • Fixtures, shower head and handles descaled
  • Toilet including base, behind the seat and the bolt caps
  • Sink, counter, and the seam where they meet
  • Mirrors and any glass
  • Cabinet and drawer interiors
  • Exhaust fan cover
  • Floors including behind the toilet

Before showings

  • Entry and front door cleaned
  • Cobwebs cleared from eaves and porch
  • Trash removed, bins out of sight
  • Sinks and tubs dry and spot-free
  • Neutral smell — no strong fragrance
